DEL HAS RELEASED A NEW ADDITION TO ITS RANGE OF SLIM LAPTOPS WITH VOSTRO V130 . A SMALL FOOTPRINT AND LIGHT WEIGHT ARE THE MAIN USP'S OF
THIS LAPTOP. IT SPORTS SLIM DIMENSION OF 0.65 INCHES AT THE FRONT AND 0.78 AT THE REAR.
The laptop comes with an option of either Intel Core i3, Core i5 or the Celeron Dual Core ULV (ultra low voltage) processors, which should give better battery life despite the slim profile.
The body is finished in aluminium, which sounds good for cooling as well as the enhanced durability and aesthetic appeal. Primary storage can be chosen between SATA 320 and 500GB 7200 rpm, but unlike the international versions, we do not get a 128GB SSD option. The laptop has only a single slot DIMM accepting DDR3 memory, so make sure you choose an option with enough RAM, because you won't be able to upgrade by adding another memory module. Connectivity options are covered by two USB ports, one eSATA/USB hybrid port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a 5-in-1 card reader. The V130 also includes HDMI output,
Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi networking options.
The laptop employs Intel's new cooling technology dubbed Hyperbaric cooling technology, which sounds dubious because the term hyperbaric is used in conjunction with cutting edge applications, mainly in the field of saturation diving, involving extreme pressures. The nomenclature is especially misleading since Intel's cooling solution uses no compressors of any
kind, but simply regular fans blowing air onto the components.
Rajiv Mongia from Intel elaborates to CRN, "By using cold air directly from the outside and then directly blowing across the hot components, you create a more efficient cooling solution. This is because by blowing air across the components, you create more intense convective cooling and often get more cooling flow through the platform. This cools the internal components such as the CPU." It's pretty clear that the term hyperbaric is just a fancy misleading word spun by Intel's marketing team to make a seemingly ordinary feature sound more impressive that it should.
