MOBILE PHONES BECOME COSTLY FROM April 1 IN INDIA
As everyone is expecting this time hike in electronics items prices. So in the budget session ,FM Pranab Mukherjee announced the hikes in central excise duty on electronics items like Phones. Before this the excise duty was 4 % which is now becomes to 5 % , with hike of 1 %.
Now due to increase in central excise duty on phones , it becomes costlier from April 1. As the telecom sector in India is fastly growing , FM gives less attention to this sector.
The extension of special additional duty on components for mobile phones for another year is a welcome step. This will help mobile manufacturers sustain growth.
